Black Is Beautiful
Championing environmental and social justice is an important part of who we are as a company, we believe that everyone should be treated equally, no matter race, gender, sexuality or class and feel strongly that to not do so, is to be un-human. We called ourselves Unity because we believe that together, we are stronger, happier and more productive. There are unfortunately people in positions of power that want to divide us and we can’t sit there and watch that happen. Something I am always mindful of is that neglect is as bad as abuse, be present, call it out, don’t watch it pass by because ‘it’s happening to someone else’, have an answer when you’re asked in 10 years time what you did to help in 2020.
We know we could do more and we will be building it even further in to our company framework, so with that in mind, alongside our continued effort to be an inclusive, ethical and responsible company, we are getting involved in the Black Is Beautiful collaboration brew set up by Weathered Souls Brewing, calling on breweries all over the world to brew their twist on one recipe and donating 100% of the proceeds to organisations that support equality, inclusion and police reform. You can find out more about the project here https://blackisbeautiful.beer/
Now that comes to what you can do to help and here’s a few things you don’t even have to get off your phone or computer to do. We can’t all go to demonstrations and physically be in that number right now but you can do something. Equally, some people don’t have money to spare so there’s also some ideas of things you can do without spending a penny.

Call it out
If you witness racism, call it out. It’s not a matter of opinion, it’s inhuman. Just a simple ‘you know that’s racist’ goes a long way. People need to understand that if you try to argue that simple statement, it means you’re part of the problem.
Understand your own prejudices and learn how to be better
Racism is a systemic problem and rooted in our society so it's unfortunately pretty normal to have some kind of prejudice, being aware of it is the first step, the next step is to rid yourself of it. If you have racist behaviour or find yourself having prejudices, don’t hide from it and perpetuate it, change it, be a better person. Ask yourself, do those words or behaviour harm or upset someone, if there is any doubt, stop doing it and ask yourself why you were doing it in the first place.
