Offbeat Wines was established with a simple aim – to produce pure, unadulterated, and enjoyable English wines with environmental preservation and sustainability at the forefront of everything they do.
Winemaker and owner, Daniel Ham works with small growers who take a considerate approach in the vineyard, avoiding the use of synthetic chemicals and doing most of the work by hand. All wines are fermented spontaneously, never fined or filtered and only receive sulphur dioxide additions when absolutely necessary.
Golden, ripe Solaris grapes were destemmed into an 800-litre amphora and left to naturally ferment. Following 3 months of maceration, the grape skins were pressed, and the press wine added back to the free run. The wine then rested on lees in stainless steel vat for a further ten months before being bottled via gravity without any fining, filtration, or additions.
The result is a deep orange wine that is complex and amazingly structured with tannins. It's one to have with food. Anyone that want's to try a rich and complex orange, this is the one!
